double coat
Siberian Husky care at home
Brush 3–4× per week; daily during coat blowout (spring & fall) Exercise need: high.
Never do this
- Shave or clip the coat short
- Use harsh de-matting tools on healthy coat
- Bathe more than once a month unless medically necessary
Tools
- Undercoat rake
- Slicker brush
- Deshedding tool
- Wide-tooth comb
- Nail clippers or Dremel
Watch for
- Hip dysplasia
- Eye conditions (cataracts, PRA)
- Zinc-responsive dermatosis
How we groom this coat
- Never shave a double coat — it damages thermoregulation
- Line brushing works better than surface brushing for removing undercoat
- Blowout season can last 2–4 weeks; increase brushing frequency
- Huskies are often fastidiously clean and need fewer baths than most breeds
